The Bollywood saw too many wedding this year and the first bit of the tizzy it was all about finding out the ‘who, what, where!? Now that the Bollywood brides are all done with their wedding festivities and looks, we bring you the breakdown of each of the Bollywood bride looks to you.
The #Viruskha wedding took the world by storm last year! And we loved EVERY bit of it.
One of the much talked about and loved details was, obviously, Anushka’s outfits. Entirely curated by India’s favourite wedding designer, Sabyasachi, she donned a total of 5 looks- all VERY DIFFERENT from one another.
For her mehendi, Anushka went for a boho look full of bright colours. Sabyasachi created a graphic lehenga in fuchsia pink and Indian orange.
It was hand-printed by the famed Calcutta block printers and hand-embroidered with gota and marori. She kept the look very simple with bare makeup and long chandelier earrings.
For her engagement, Anushka wanted to wear a Sabyasachi velvet saree. And we made it in our signature Gulkand Burgundy. It was hand-embroidered using miniature pearls and the finest quality zardosi and marori. She wore a stunning uncut diamond and pearl choker with matching studs. The entire look was complemented with kohl-rimmed eyes, red roses, and our now iconic microdot bindi.” said Sabyasachi as he posted this engagement picture on Instagram.
The Wedding- Whimsical Princess:
Then came the big day, and Anushka decided to go for a simple, delicate and classic bridal look. There’s very little that can go wrong when you’re in a classic Sabyasachi lehenga, traditional Indian jewellery, and minimal makeup.
Sabyasachi reiterated that no matter where you come from, what profession you’re in, every Indian bride succumbs to age-old traditions on her wedding day.
For her first reception look, Anushka decided to wear a red Banarasi Sari. Paired with a red bindi, sindoor, and mogras in her hair just made the look more potent and powerful. She chose to wear heritage uncut diamond choker and jhumkas from the Sabyasachi Bridal Jewelry collection.
2. Sonam Kapoor
The bubbly fashionista’s wedding was one of the most awaited wedding of 2018. As it was a star-studded event with all of the Indian Cinema Fraternity in attendance.
Sonam’s wedding festivities kicked off with a ‘Mehendi’ party and a ‘Sangeet’ bash. For the Mehendi function, Sonam picked a lilac, peach and white ensemble designed by Anuradha Vakil.
For the Sangeet,’ Sonam donned a beautiful ivory chikankari lehenga designed by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. She wore her hair in a loose braid and accessorised it with a jasmine garland fixed in a criss-cross style all along the length of the braid. Her magnificent neckpiece, white and gold dangling earrings, and ‘maang tikka’ exuded traditional elegance. She kept the makeup for this event very natural with just a touch of blush, light smoky eyes and pink lips.
For the wedding, Sonam opted to wear traditional red and picked a lehenga by Anuradha Vakil. The skirt was resplendent with lotus motifs and included a dupatta with a thick embellished border. Her jewelry for this auspicious function included an ornate multi-layered ‘matha patti’. Her makeup look was once again all about youthful & freshness. Sonam eschewed the heavy, glamorous look and opted for dewy skin, pink lips, light blush, and light eye makeup.
For the reception, Sonam pushed the fashion envelope in an edgy white and grey Anamika Khanna ensemble that was modern and comfortable. Paired with a white dupatta that had a lovely golden border, the lehenga was an unusual choice because of the understated color combination, but Sonam made it work wonderfully. She wore her hair sleek and straight with a middle parting and amped up the glamour quotient with bright red lips.
3. Deepika Padukone
Now comes the wedding bride who got the maximum number of wedding festivities and so does the attire comes along with them. We did a full break down for Deepika’s wedding here.
We have picked our favorites from all of her looks which you can find below.
The Wedding Look
Although she looked breathtaking gorgeous in both the wedding attires, we really loved the red color on her for her Sindhi wedding. She wore a Sabyasachi ensemble. Her jewellery was on point too- She wore stunning polki jewellery by the designer. Another thing which caught our attention was her bridal dupatta which had a quote inscribed on the side with gold thread! But all in all, it was a nice traditional bridal look.
Bollywood Reception look:
The second look we tripped over is the Bollywood reception look of hers where she wore custom-made Zuhair Murad gown with a huge train. Her makeup was again the same- smokey eyes with nude lips. For this look, she let her gorgeous hair down. Read our full blog here.
4. Priyanka Chopra
And last but not the least, the final Bollywood bride, Priyanka Chopra began with her wedding festivities in Umaid Bhawan, Udaipur. She indeed gave us some beautiful pictures from her wedding to end the year with.
For the Mehendi ceremony, Priyanka wore a beautiful multi-hued traditional vintage ensemble by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla with heirloom jewellery to complete the look.
Priyanka wore a strapless column dress, with a high-neck coat with scalloped sleeves and satin-covered buttons. The embroidery included eight significant words and phrases selected by the bride, including Family, Hope, Compassion. This dress was designed by Ralph Lauren himself. She looked so beautiful in this white wedding dress which had a 75ft. long veil. Her makeup was very simple and hair was loosely tied in a bun.
Priyanka wore blue lehenga from the shelves of Sabyasachi – she added such a cool twist to her traditional look by pairing it with a corset-style choli. She styled her hair in a bun and added just the right amount of glitter to her new-bride look with a heavy necklace and earrings.
Priyanka wore this pastel coloured tulle inspired lehenga by the designer duo AJSK. It was all embroidered intricately in chiffon flowers with crystals. The makeup was kept basic with pink tinted lips. She kept her signature hairdo with short waves and completed the whole look matching earrings and a neckpiece to go with. See the full Blog here.
