The India Couture Week 2018 was more than just a show, it was an amalgam of past, present and future. The designers with their alluring collections had our hearts arrested and took us on a mesmerizing journey of fashion. Here are my favorites!

  • TARUN TAHILIANI

The ace designer opened the fashion week with his collection ‘Elysium’ that flawlessly showcased the modern silhouettes and bridal couture. Aditi Rao Hydari walked as the show stopper in a pastel, Swarovski studded lehenga. The collection not only looked modishly royal but also very timeless and a mark of luxury. Opals and Swarovski crystals were incorpated beautifully using traditional Indian embroideries like Chikankari, gotta patti, ari and zardosi. Each ensemble saw the use of vivid and innovative designing and conceptualizing.

  • FALGUNI AND SHANE PEACOCK

The duo is famous for bringing together the Indian and the international taste. Their debut collection was titled ‘Amour De Junagarh’. The highlight of their collection was the gold embellished A-line lehenga paired with a full sleeves, deep neck blouse and the duo’s statement glittery, feather dupatta. This outfit sat gorgeously on the begum of Pataudi, Kareena K Khan as she stole everyone’s heart while walking down the ramp in it. Their designs were inspired by the French capital and the Juna fort in Rajasthan. The duo yet again mixed two cultures so meticulously that it set them apart.

  • ANJU MODI

She successfully took us back to the Victorian era with her collection. Flowly gown, puffy sleeves and printed lehengas were the highlights from her collection. The show stopper, Kangana Ranaut donned a gold lehenga and blouse with a maroon, embroidered velvet jacket and mystically brought royalty to the ramp. Other models were also seen in ensembles showing inspiration from the Victorian era.

  • PALLAVI JAIKISHAN

Her collection was titled ‘Nostalgia’ and it surely did justice to its name. The designer recreated with a modern twist what she had done 25 years ago. The collection included metallic hues and floral embroideries. Elements like long capes, frills and pleats showed the retro touch.

I’ll be back with more!
