Retro twist to modern trends: How to style Retro? | STYL-INC|Styl-blog

How to Style Retro

The 80’s and 90’s were an era of unfiltered, bold and experimental fashion, the era we call Retro.  The fashion trends that emerged in those years never faded away completely and always found their way back to our closets. And it’s that time again when the Retro style is conquering our wardrobes. Here are some celebrities sporting and rocking our modish trends with a hint of the yesteryear glam.

PRINTS AND EMBELLISHMENTS

Prints and embellishments were ‘the thing’ in those years. Colorful, bright and quirky prints or embellishments could be seen on different sort of silhouettes and it’s all coming back. Actress Bhumi Padnekar was seen in an ivory dress by Ritika Mirchandani. The dress had golden embellishments in the centre front of the dress and the cuffs. And actress Alia Bhatt was seen rocking a Michael Kors polka dot suit on one occasion and vibrant, printed Burberry dress on another one.

DRESSES

All of the actresses of the 80’s and 90’s were seen rocking in dresses with the most trending silhouettes being the layered dress. No matter what the silhouette of the dress was it was made layered. And we can never get enough of it can we? Here are 2 divas, sporting 3 different dress silhouettes but all beautifully layered bringing back the days of the past. Actress Suvreen Chawla in an asymmetrical layered dress, Chitrangda Singh in a shift dress with layers of fringes and Suvreen Chawla in a short layered A-line dress.

SKIRTS WITH JACKETS

This was called the skater look or the sporty look and remember how badly we all tried to copy it. Well girlies its back and it’s here to stay. Time to bring out our quirky jackets and short skirts and be a 90’s skater girl. Actress Disha Patani looks marvelous in this striking red combination.

The best of the trends always find their way back just like the Retro style. We loved it how these ladies infused the trends of the yester years with the modern-day fashion and slayed in it. Time for us to do the same. For further queries or to get styled reach us at STYL-INC.
