Our journey for weaving a dream wedding for Aditi began when I received an email from her in the wee hours of my night but her morning of course because she was from New York. I being a night owl was up and responded to her straight away. Much to her amazement at the prompt response, she scheduled a call at the very moment.

Aditi, our New York bride was full of enthusiasm and chirpiness and knew she needs assistance to shop and be styled for her wedding. Being a data scientist, she was proud of her geek persona but wanted to add the edge and drama for her wedding. With both our families in India and our relatives there it was a unanimous decision of being wed in Goa, by the beach she said.aditi and akshay - the bride and groom

The journey

She spoke and hired us in November, but the wedding was inching closer at the beginning of February, I was jittery at first but knew we could make it. However, the catch here was that she wanted a Sabyasachi for her wedding day. For a fact, a Sabyasachi lehenga takes at least 2-3 months was my concern which I did convey, but also thought that if she trusted me I could go select it for her, and by the time of her visit in January it should be almost ready for first trials. She agreed!

We follow a process when we shop for our brides and speaking to her gave me the sense of a classic, understated yet modern bride who wanted the colors but not the bling.

The Wedding Outfit Story

The very next day, my team and I headed to the Sabyasachi store and found this gorgeous Scarlet Matka Silk lehenga that would shine lovely at her ‘Sunset Beach Wedding’ we Facetimed her in New York City and her mom in Toronto, Canada, and voila both absolutely loved it. We added a second copper organza-based dupatta complimenting her dusky complexion.

With blind faith and trust, Aditi seemed satisfied with my choice, we measured her out at the store and that’s it, they promised us a first trial end of January!

Bridal Wardrobe :

For the rest of the wedding wardrobe, I insisted she finalize when she visited India, which was happening mid-December. We knew we had time for the other outfits so we took the chance. Her only brief to me was colors and no bling. We adhered. My team carefully crafted a shopping itinerary to make the most of her time.

Some pictures from during the shopping with our #StylBride Aditi.

Starting from the first outfit :

  1. Pre Wedding Shoot

Our Styl-bride was having her bridal shoot by the beach and wearing a gown for it would have been too clichéd. Instead, we found for her a picture-perfect, super gorgeous peach lehenga by designer Safia Khan. The flowy lehenga set perfectly on her petite frame and looked amazing in the evening light at the beach.

2. Mehndi Night

The families kept the Mehndi Night as a close family affair and the bride wanted to look modish, comfortable, and well-prepped for Mehendi as she put it. Feeling like her chirpy self she fell in love with this Payal Singhal Floral Top and Harem Pant Coordinate. The Harem Pants were versatile enough to be stretched up to accommodate the henna on her feet.

To complete her look, we coordinated with her MUA to give her very natural-looking makeup. Along with a side braid and ponytail. This kept her comfy and stylish throughout the ceremony.

3. Sangeet Night

Now this one was a breath taker! We all unanimously loved this gorgeous baby pink ‘Anushree Reddy’ lehenga for her sangeet, throwing the whole concept of no pinks for a dusky bride. Adding smokey eyes and pink tones to her makeup she looked like a vision. The trick here was to reduce the Kalis in the lehenga cos that otherwise would have weighed her down. A decision that a professional can help you take.

4. Cocktail Parties

First Party was a Mehndi cocktail for which she chose an Orange Lehenga Choli from ‘Avnni’, a young designer from Chandni Chowk, and matched this young vibrant look with contemporary jewellery from ‘Soranam’

Brief: I need to look modest yet hawt! She obliged! She draped a royal blue saree by ‘Aastha Narang’ embellished with antique gold sequinsas her 3rd unique outfit.. Her hair styled in a high bun paired with subtle makeup. The saree draped her petite frame beautifully and the deep blue got the best in her with her complexion. Win-Win!

5. Wedding Night

And finally the much-awaited Wedding Outfit! The bride and groom are all their glory. Take a leaf from the bride’s outfit, we matched the groom’s saga and second stole to match the brides.
