Adding another awesome & grand multi-cultural wedding we shopped & styled for in our list of accomplishments! Charlene Prakash & Navdeep Kalsi from Alberta, Canada. This wedding was special to us because we decked up not just both the families but the bridesmaids & the groomsmen as well to keep up with the Wedding Style!
The Meet & Greet
Charlene found us online because she wanted a true Big Fat Indian Wedding with traditional outfits for not just herself & her groom, but for both the families. It started with Skype calls with our resident Wedding Stylist Meha Bhargava where they talked about likes & dislikes and what kind of a wedding she was planning. From there, the team built the mood boards with the latest styles & designer outfits according to her suggestions. It was all done to make the process easier when she flew down to Delhi for her shopping spree.
Charlene’s Shopping Trip
They planned a trip around the Republic Day Holiday and we planned a structured itinerary for them. With limited time, the precision of our tasks was essential. Because the trip also included shopping for wedding cards, trousseau, wedding favours and accessories. So, the 1st day it all started with shopping for basics.
2nd Day came with shopping for Charlene’s major ceremonies along with Charlene’s wedding outfit. All the while looking for her mother’s and sister’s trousseau as well. As her comfort was one of our priorities for her Mehendi outfit, we gave her a flowy skirt & crop top for the ease. Keeping in mind her Haldi function had many rituals, we chose a striking combination of orange saree with a green blouse. It was followed by head-bopping sangeet. Giving something different for the sun-downer, a bright yellow & pale green lehenga by Ghazal Gupta combination was her perfect companion.
Because Charlene wanted something different yet traditional to wear at her wedding, she loved the deep maroon Anita Dongre lehenga Meha picked out for her. With heavy yet intricate embroidery & Gota Patti, the lehenga was an instant choice. To match the royal feel of the lehenga, we paired it with long maroon haar. Along with a choker that had beautiful earrings, a delicate Nath and an elaborate matha Patti. To complete her royal look, we gave a matching pair of Hath Phool & anklets (Payal). For her Reception, we found an ethereal white Falguni & Shane gown with tone on tone work. Keeping in mind her Wedding Style.
Even though Navdeep came with Charlene’s family to shop with them in Delhi, it was a little daunting to choose the perfect sherwani. As it had to compliment both of their styles & preferences. And as their Wedding Stylists, we made sure they got the wedding style of their dream. After looking at many designs, he loved (just like his Bride) Anita Dongre’s pastel pink sherwani. And to match it to his bride, we decided on a maroon turban (for his Sikh Heritage) and pastel pink stole, similar to Charlene’s dupatta.
Family’s Shopping Trip
Shopping for the whole family was a big task. We took the whole thing in batches. While one of the stylists was shopping with Charlene, the other was showing options to her sister. We bought a navy blue Vasansi lehenga, a pale orange Tamanna Punjabi’s sharara and a mirror work white & pink Abhinav Mishra lehenga. Similarly, for the mother, after trying a few sarees, we decided on a dusty pink & gold zari saree from Taneira.
For Charlene father, we chose a custom bandh gala jacket for the wedding. And for the rest of the occasions, there were coloured Kurtas some of which were with bundi (half jackets). For the groomsmen, the white kurta-teal bundi combo was decided and for the bride’s friends & cousins, white kurta – orange bundi. Eveything was custom made for each person by Laungani’s.
For the bridesmaids, peach Anarkali with pink dupatta was it.
Even the youngest Prakash family member, Raja (the Pooch) got a custom embroidered vest! And before shipping, everything was checked for sizes & any imperfections.
Finally, for the grand reception! As it was a morning affair, we suggested a White Falguni & Shane Gown to Charlene. For a little coordination, Navdeep wore a white shirt with his blue velvet Gucci jacket.
